Past Interns

Spring 2017

Laura Farkas

Laura Farkas served as the Institute intern for the Spring 2017 semester. She graduated in May 2017 with a degree in family studies and human services, a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies, as well as a certificate in conflict resolution. Laura has been a member of the Down Syndrome Research Team with Dr. Briana Goff since the Fall of 2013. She has a passion for the special needs population, as well as the military population. She will attend Graduate School in the Fall of 2017 for a Masters in Social Work to pursue a career working with the military.

Fall 2016

Danielle Mondloch was the Institute intern during the Fall 2016 semester. Danielle completed her degree from the University of Montana in Community Health and Preventative Sciences in December 2016. Danielle came to K-State by way of her husband, who was deployed with 1ID, Fort Riley, KS.

Fall 2015 - Spring 2016

Emily Betthauser

Emily BetthauserEmily graduated from K-State in May 2016 with a degree in family studies and human services major with a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies and is originally from Gardner, Kansas. In addition to the institute internship, she worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the Kansas National Guard on the Joining Community Forces initiative. She hopes to work alongside military families in the future focusing on transition periods, PTSD and other challenges that come along with reintegration and the military lifestyle.

Brittany Beneke

Brittany BenekeBrittany Beneke was an intern for the institute for the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 semesters. She graduated from K-State in May 2016 with a degree in family studies and human services, a minor in conflict analysis & trauma studies, as well as a certificate in conflict resolution. In addition to her work with the institute, she was also a volunteer for Kansas: Operation Military Kids (OMK) and served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. Through this role, she worked with Joining Community Forces and the Kansas National Guard, as well as continuing to work with OMK and the Institute. She currently attends the University of Kansas pursing a master's degree in social work.

Spring 2015

Aeriel Dodson

Aeriel DodsonAeriel Dodson was one of the institute's interns for the spring 2015 semester. She graduated in May 2015 with a degree in family studies and human services and a minor in music. Aeriel was involved with the institute since the spring of 2014. She currently attends the University of Kansas pursuing a master's degree in social work.

 

Caysi Gatts

Caysi Gatts Caysi Gatts was one of the institute's spring 2015 interns. Caysi graduated in May of 2015 with her bachelor's degree in family studies and human services and a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies. During her time at K-State, Caysi developed a passion for working with families in transitions, especially military families. Caysi is currently pursing her master's degree in social work at Washburn University and hopes to work with families in a military or medical setting in the future.

Fall 2014

Lori Zetmeir

Lori Zetmeir Lori Zetmeir was the institute's intern for the fall 2014 semester. She graduated in December 2014 with a degree in family studies and human services and a minor in leadership studies. Lori has had some involvement with the institute since the spring of 2014. After graduation, Lori served as the institute's project assistant. Lori currently attends the University of Kansas pursuing a master's degree in social work.

 

Spring 2014

Devon Perkins

Devon Perkins Devon Perkins was one of the institute's interns during the spring semester of 2014. Devon graduated in May of 2014 with a degree in family studies and human services with a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies. Devon has been involved with the institute since the spring of 2013. Devon is currently pursuing a master's degree in marriage and family therapy at Colorado State University.

Laura has been involved with the institute since the spring of 2013.

Carmen Burchett

Carmen Burchett Carmen Burchett was an intern for the institute during the Fall 2013 semester. She graduated in December 2013 with a degree in family studies and human services with a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies.

 

 

 

Megan Hansel

Megan HanselMegan Hansel was an intern for the institute during the Fall 2013 semester. She graduated in December 2013 with a degree in family studies and human services. During her time at Kansas State University, Megan developed a continuous passion in working with military individuals and families.

 

 

Kali Summers

Kali SummersKali Summers (Orrick) was an intern for the institute during the Spring 2013 semester. She graduated in May 2013 from Kansas State University with a degree in family studies and human services with a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies and a certificate in conflict resolution. Kali has been involved with the institute since the Fall of 2011. From July 2013 to December 2016, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA working with Joining Community Forces. In the fall of 2015, she completed her master's degree in family studies at Kansas State University.

Kathryn Hartman

Kathryn HartmanKathryn Hartman was an intern for the institute during the Spring 2013 semester. Kathryn graduated in May 2013 with a major in family studies and human services and a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies. Kathryn has been involved with the institute since the Fall of 2012. In August 2015, Kathryn completed her master's degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Fall 2012

Kris Grinter

Kris GrinterKris Grinter was the institute's intern for the Fall 2012 semester. He graduated in December 2012 with a degree in family studies and human services and completed his master's degree in life span human development from K-State in May 2015. As an undergraduate, Kris instructed three undergraduate classes, worked with the institute and took classes as a full-time student.

Spring 2012

Anne Schmitz

Anne SchmitzAnne Schmitz was the institute's Spring 2012 intern. Anne graduated in May 2012 with a degree in family studies and human services with a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies. She has worked with the institute on the TRECK research team and was a part of the after-care team for the National Veterans Wellness and Healing Center-Flint Hills retreat. Anne graduated in 2014 with a master's degree in marriage and family therapy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
